21 Nov Maryland teen has been accused of a school-related weapons charge

Maryland residents who find themselves dealing with criminal allegations may often feel like they are alone when confronted by the government. It is important to remember, however, that every accused individual has the right to obtain legal counsel if they so desire. Further, every criminal defendant has the right to fight the allegations made against them. A 15-year-old Maryland boy is finding this out for himself after police have leveled a weapons charge against him.
The weapons charge stems from the claim that he brought a BB gun onto high school property. Police have now charged him with the possession of a dangerous weapon due to this incident. Police were made aware of this alleged incident after someone reported that they saw a suspicious person carrying a weapon earlier that morning.
According to a police report, officials were initially not able to find that purported suspect. Apparently, after that failure to locate the suspicious person, the original caller told the police that suspect attended Bowie high school. Police then traveled to the high school and reportedly located a suspect which matched the caller’s initial description.
The teenager was detained without getting into any altercations with the high school resource officer or the police. Officials thereafter arrested the young boy and charged him with the possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. Like any other criminal defendant in the state of Maryland, this boy will have the right to fight against the weapons charge that has been made against him, although the burden of proof rests upon the government.
