21 Jun Maryland drug trafficking charge filed against several people
On behalf of Jack B. Rubin, PA posted in Drug Charges on Friday, June 21, 2013.
Drug investigations conducted in the state of Maryland can often lead to serious charges being leveled against individuals. These serious charges can, in turn, result in severe consequences being handed down in the event of any convictions. A drug trafficking charge is one example of a criminal allegation that can lead to significant penalties. These penalties can run the gamut from time in jail to financial damages being required.
One recent drug investigation that was carried out by both federal and Maryland local officials led to criminal allegations being leveled against over two dozen people. These individuals were accused of drug trafficking in addition to a variety of weapons violations. Both the drug trafficking and gun charges could result in severe sentences being imposed if authorities are able to gain convictions against any of the accused individuals.
This drug trafficking investigation saw at least 10 different sites being searched after warrants were obtained. Seven vehicles were also searched during the course of the official investigation into this alleged drug trafficking ring. In addition to federal indictments, more than 20 people are also facing Maryland state charges that could seriously affect these individuals’ lives.
A drug trafficking charge is serious, whether on the federal or state level. Accused individuals may find themselves feeling uncertain after allegations have been filed by authorities. Researching their options under the law could help settle their feelings of uneasiness since they may gain a better understanding of the trial process and feel better able to make decisions on whether to fight the charges or negotiate a plea agreement with prosecutors.
