Drug possession charges are often the result of a driver initially being pulled over by police for speeding or other traffic offenses. If the officers suspect the presence of drugs in the vehicle, they are permitted to search the vehicle. There are, however, specific stipulations relating to the search procedure of the authorities. Various factors may influence the seriousness of the case, such as criminal history and previous convictions. The type and quantity of drugs recovered, along with what the police suspect you planned to do with the drugs, may also play a role.
